Paint
My paint supplier is the Little Greene Paint Company.
They have excellent sustainable credentials and I urge you to visit their website. I use their waterbased paints that carry the industry’s lowest eco-rating, with VOC content now virtually zero.
Wood
All my cabinets are made in Shropshire by local craftsmen using the best quality birch ply.
Birch is the indiginous wood of Northern Europe and the suppliers use wood from sustainable European forests.
During the last 5 years I have had many requests from cabinet makers to use cheaper and often more readily available woods, which would obviously come from the Far East. They have said that because the cabinets are painted it would not matter and would reduce costs.
However it does matter to me, and I hope it matters to you. The prices of my products may be a little more expensive, but I hope the fact that I consider the environmental impact and use British craftsmen in to create my designs more than makes up for it. That is why I do not paint the inside of the cabinet, so that you can still see the wood.
Employment
As you may know, until recently I have been a ' One Woman Band' however I now have Jenny to help me in the warehouse. She is a fantastic help and lives locally to here.
Recycling
I am a passionate believer of recycling. If you come to my house you will see that I have integrated many different bins into the kitchen for all the waste that we seem to accumulate.
This ethos runs through to Ella's Kitchen Company. I do not throw anything away if i think I might be able to reuse it.
I have put a huge amount of thought into packaging and especially into the cabinet packaging.
If you receive an item from me that has been sent in a reused box, or with resued stuffing please remember that in reusing that box I am recyling and you might reuse it too.
If you have anything you would like to ask me about the creation or sustainable nature of these products please do email me on 01588 673976
Top Tip
Cheap Window Cleaning
Get a bucket full of hot water and put a capful of vinegar into it. Get some old newspaper, wet it with the hot water then scrunch up.
Scrub the window pane and when you have got the grime off dry it off with a dry piece of newspaper.
Your windows will sparkle and there are no greasy smudges. Use this on the car windows too.
